The Grammar School strives to cultivate in each student a desire to contribute constructively to society with high expectations for social responsibility. Our goal is to strengthen the conscious partnership within The Grammar School community and to expand our relationships with broader communities.
Service to the school is ingrained in our community’s culture and begins with students in grades four through eight performing workjobs (chores) on campus each day. Other on campus service includes a Big Buddy/Little Buddy program, volunteering at our fall Medieval Faire, helping at recess and in classrooms, leading our all school meetings and serving on our Student Leadership Council.
Locally, the community service component includes continuity and activities across the grades. These service opportunities include but are not limited to: visiting senior citizens once a month, working with community agencies to keep food shelves stocked, serving lunches to seniors, and buying gifts for needy children. Many initiatives are student driven.
Globally, each year the school picks a region from around the world to study that includes a service-learning component. Global service activities may include raising money to build schools, buy school supplies, provide scholarships for school age children, and purchase life straw water filters for fresh water.
The Grammar School fosters social awareness as well as responsibility in the broader world. Grammar School students make a difference!
