After School Sports at TGS
Soccer and Cross Country Running
TGS offers students the opportunity to participate in after school sports throughout the school year. In the fall, students can participate in soccer and/or cross country running. K-2nd graders may sign up for soccer practice once a week, and 3rd-8th grade soccer players take part in practice and games with other schools three times a week. XC (cross country) running practices and meets are open to all K-8th graders. During the season, TGS holds two running meets that are attended by students from eight area schools.
Winter After School Ski Program
Cross-country skiing has been part of winter sports at TGS since the school was founded, when many students had the chance to ski to school. TGS hosted the local Bill Koch Cross-Country Ski League at the school for over 25 years. BKL practices are held twice a week after school at local venues throughout the winter for all interested students in the area. In addition, there is a racing program for skiers who wish to take their skills to a higher level.
Spring sports include mountain biking and trail running for all grades. Both activities meet one day a week and explore the woods and trails near the school. The focus is on skills, fitness, and fun in the outdoors. When there has been enough interest, TGS also has offered introductory lacrosse and Ultimate Frisbee as spring after school sports.
